The Best Retro Games for iPhone

Hey guys! My buddy Marcus Morris from computergamedesign.org asked me to create a gues post on ILIKESCIFI.com about Retro Games for the iPhone. Here we go:

The Best Retro Games for iPhone

With today’s technology, you can now enjoy the arcade games of the past that you love. From Pong to Tetris, here are some of the best retro games that you can download to play on your iPhone.

1. Space Invaders – This is one of the most loved of the early shooting games found in any arcade. It was originally released in 1978, but this version stays true to the classic format of the game. It also includes a few extras so that you can learn more about how the game was developed.

2. Digit Invader – This game is inspired by the Casio Calculator games of the 80s. Even though it’s simple, it’s also lots of fun as speed increases with each level. Shoot down incoming invaders by matching numbers on the screen with your missile numbers.

3. Classic Pong – This famous game is one of the ones that started it all. It has simple graphics that represent a tennis-style match as a ball bounces back and forth between two opponents. It was originally released in 1972

4. Pac-Man / Ms. Pac-Man – These two games belong on any list of classic arcade games. Both are true to their original versions, with retro graphics, fruit icons, and of course, the ghosts Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde (or Sue in the Ms. Pac-Man version). Gain an extra life at 10,000 points!

5. Crystal Quest – In this arcade game, you’ll collect crystals while avoiding the Nasties that pop out from the sides of your screen. Navigation works with either swipe or accelerometer/tilt controls. This was the first color game for the Apple Macintosh in 1987, but it hasn’t lost any of its appeal.

6. Frogger – This game has been around for over 30 years, but it’s still lots of fun. Try to help Frogger dodge cars and get across the highway, then cross the stream to get home. This game was a big hit due to its original gameplay and theme. However, this version has updated graphics rather than a retro look.

7. Tetris – This retro favorite has been redesigned so that the graphics look more clear and modern. This version has two modes: the traditional marathon mode and a new Galaxy mode with multiple levels. It even includes the beloved theme tune that retro gamers won’t forget.

8. Atari’s Greatest Hits – This app gives you access to Missile Command for free, along with 100 other classic Atari games that must be purchased individually or in game packs. You can enjoy classics like Asteroids, Centipede, Tempest, and more. This app is a retro gamer’s dream.
